About this Resource

Image:Aboutpageart.jpg

First developed in late 2006 by Jo Kay (aka jokay Wollongong) and Sean FitzGerald (aka Sean McDunnough) as a resource to support our presentations and workshops on and in Second Life. It had its first 'life' over at http://sleducation.wikispaces.com and was widely regarded as one of the best resources for educators who were new to virtual worlds.

Since then, the resource has survived a 'take down' request from Linden Labs and morphed into a more broad overview of the possibilities for and affordances of virtual worlds in education.

It is currently managed and maintained by Jo Kay as part of her work on the Islands of jokaydia and provides a growing collection of more than 100 case studies of educational projects which have been delivered or are currently running in Second Life.

Within the resource you will find a range of case studies, resources, links and listings which are designed not only to support the work of the jokaydia Community of Practice, but also to provide educators with a collection of resources which are flexible and can be used under a Creative Commons license.
