About jokaydia

The Islands of jokaydia opened with a sim in Second Life in September 2007, and is owned and operated by jokay Wollongong. It was created to provide a home for jokay's work with educators in virtual worlds, and to provide a flexible and engaging space for educators who were new to virtual worlds. However, since then jokaydia has evolved into a Community of Practice which aims to explore the uses of virtual worlds in education, the arts and social change.

The Islands of jokaydia are self-funded and support a range of events, activities and services. We host informal and formal events, a number of educational institutions and a vibrant community of educators and artists in various virtual spaces including the Islands of jokaydia @ Second Life, the Islands of jokaydia @ ReactionGrid and jokaydia@BlueMars.
